History

Donald L. Barrigar and Howard Smith pooled their resources and founded Acme Electric in 1950. Three years later, they purchased assets of another electrical contractor business, Standard Electric. Within 20 years, significant growth occurred as the company developed industrial and commercial niches beyond their residential work.

Professional Employees

Acme Electric's structure provides for in excess of 250  field and office employees. Through the NJATC in association with NECA and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, all company electricians complete a 5 - year apprenticeship and are licensed by the city and the state of Iowa. Their education continues in accordance with city and state requirements also with involvement in professional groups and supplier sponsored programs.
