In 1950 Founders Donald L. Barrigar and Howard Smith pooled their resources to form Acme Electric Company Inc. with Mr. Barrigar holding the position of President and CEO for 41 successful years. 


In 1981 Donald L. Barrigar's Son, Don D. Barrigar joined Acme Electric as field supervisor and after steadily advancing through various other positions Don succeeded his father as President in 1991. A role would proudly hold for the following 30 years.

In 2016 Jackson Barrigar joined Acme as an assistant project manager after relocating back to Iowa from California after 5 years. Over the next 6 years Jackson worked his way to commercial project manager and in 2021 became the 3rd Generation to hold the title of President at Acme Electric Company, succeeding his father Don D. Barrigar who now serves as the company's CEO.

As of today, decades after its founding. Acme Electric is still a family-owned business – albeit one with more than 150 employees –  and continues to be as dedicated as ever to providing premium-quality electrical contracting services in the Cedar Rapids-Iowa City Corridor.

Acme foresees an exciting future ahead and continues to serve, grounded in long-term customer relationships and the commitment to provide the acme of service and quality.

Don Barrigar Owner/CEO

Don Barrigar Owner/CEO Don has more than 30 years’ experience in electrical contracting. He was appointed president of Acme Electric Company in 1991 after serving the company as Field Superintendent and Operations Manager. Under Don’s leadership, Acme has consistently grown using Don’s business model with its focus on providing customer value and building long-term relationships. Don graduated from Dunwoody Technical College (Minneapolis, Mn.) in 1980

Jackson Barrigar President

Jackson Barrigar President Jackson has over a decade in the electrical industry In April 2021 Jackson was appointed President of Acme Electric, making him the 3rd Generation Barrigar to hold this title following in his Grandfather’s (Don L. Barrigar 1950-1991) and his Father’s (Don D. Barrigar 1991-2021) shoes. Jackson previously served as a Project Manager/Estimator for Acme as well a Project Manager/Estimator for Smart Systems Technologies (Irvine, CA). Jackson graduated from Dunwoody College

Mike Calef Chief Financial Officer

Mike Calef Chief Financial Officer With over 30+ years’ experience in Accounting & Business Management. Prior to joining Acme in 2021 Mike held the titles of CFO at Waypoint Services, Finance Manager and Director of Finance and Business Analytics at Infinity, as well as Director of Business Management at Transamerica. Mike has worked and lived in the Cedar Rapids community and brings a strong business background with him to Acme including business improvements, finance, operational analytics, & operation

Glen Henry VP Operations & Production

Glen Henry VP Operations & Production Over twenty-five years’ experience as a licensed electrician. He started his career with Acme as a service technician and became project general foreman. Glen was active as an instructor for the local apprenticeship program. In 2002 Glen was hired by the local NECA/IBEW organizations as a full-time director of the Joint Apprenticeship and Training Programs. Glen returned to Acme Electric in 2005 Glen is dedicated to assuring that projects are on schedule & budget

Keith Long  Superintendent/ BIM Coordination

Keith Long Superintendent/ BIM Coordination Keith has 20+ years’ experience supervising as a general foreman in the electrical industry. He earned his Electrical Certification/Apprenticeship in 1996 and is a member of NECA and IBEW 405 in Cedar Rapids. Keith has earned REVIT certification at Kirkwood Community College and completed manufacturer-sponsored training on the Trimble. Keith leads Acme in project coordination and scheduling as well as oversees daily field operations.

Matt Domeyer  Service Manager

Matt Domeyer Service Manager Matt has over 20 years of experience in the electrical trade as a member of the IBEW Local 405. He obtained his state electrical and masters licenses in 2004. Matt completed the JATC apprenticeship in 2005. Over the last 15 years Matt has served as a foreman on both commercial and industrial projects with the majority of his tenure being a dedicated service tech. In 2021 Matt took over as Service Manager for Acme where he serves as supervisor for Acme

Greg Merz  Commercial Estimator/ Project Manager

Greg Merz Commercial Estimator/ Project Manager Greg has 30+ years experience in the electrical industry. Including more than 20 years with Acme Electric as a licensed electrician, project manager and professional estimator. Greg specializes in estimating and managing projects in excess of $3 million in both the commercial and healthcare markets. He manages submittals, RFI’s and weekly electrical projects. Greg completed Northeast Iowa Community College’s residential/commercial electrician program in 1987

RJ Golembiewski  Commercial Estimator/ Project Manager

RJ Golembiewski Commercial Estimator/ Project Manager RJ has more than 23 years of experience in the electrical industry as an IBEW Local 405 member. Starting his career in the residential field, completing his JATC Residential training and going on to gain his Electrical license in 2001. After 6 years RJ made the switch to become an Inside Wireman and completing the additional 3 years of JATC apprenticeship training in 2008.

John Feltes  Energy Solutions, Industrial Estimator/Project Manager

John Feltes Energy Solutions, Industrial Estimator/Project Manager 25+ experience in the electrical industry, John returned to Acme Electric as a Project Manager/Estimator in 2016. He had previously worked for Acme for 10 years as an apprentice and foreman electrician. John is currently responsible for contracting, estimating, designing & managing projects in various capacities. John earned his AAS in skilled trades from Kirkwood Community College in in 1998 and has since received certification as a Master Instructor/Trainer

Bill Bruns  Senior Electrical Engineer/ Project Manager

Bill Bruns Senior Electrical Engineer/ Project Manager Bill earned his B.S.E.E. from the University of Iowa in 1999 and joined Acme Electric Company that same year. Bill has 19 years of experience in Electrical Engineering and the electrical contracting business and is LEED certified. Bill’s experience includes power distribution design, lighting design, and control panel design. Bill is also experienced in project management and drafting using AutoCAD software.

Jess Lester  Safety Director

Jess Lester Safety Director Acme Electric Company is 100% behind its Safety Program. Jess join Acme in 2015 and is the driving force behind Acme’s safety program and primary responsibilities are as follows: • Safety Director- Acme Electric Company • MSHA Coordinator/Instructor • Safety Trainer/Instructor/Policy Development • Safety Committee Chairman Started Electrical Industry • 1997 Education: • OSHA 10 and 30 Hour Certification • First Aid/CPR Certification • IBEW Joint Apprenticeship

Taylor Manley  Warehouse Manager

Taylor Manley Warehouse Manager Taylor has almost two decades of experience working in the construction industry, Taylor has spent time focusing on landscaping and building houses but the majority of Taylor’s career prior to Joining Acme was spent working at Brucemore Mansion as both a grounds team member and a building maintenance specialist. During the twelve years Taylor spent at Brucemore he attended Campbell School of Learning as well as Kirkwood Community College
